Postage Details
At BMS we despatch goods worldwide although the majority of our orders are from UK based customers. Our online shopping cart will calculate the cost of deliveries within Europe and beyond. A quick cost estimation is shown just above this text on the right and you can select your country from the drop down list. If you are a registered customer and login then this updates automatically for your region or postcode.
In summary:
We can send small, low value, light weight goods by 1st Class Post for £4.00 +vat (up to 1kg). Delivery is normally within 1-3 working days for 1st class. Please allow up to 14 days for delivery, Note: This service is NOT insured.
Telephone Orders Courier Service Costs:
We offer a lower courier cost when placing your order online and from April 2nd 2013 ALL telephone orders will be charged delivery starting from £10 +vat, except where a postal service may be offered.
Web Orders Courier Services Costs:
We use Parcelforce as our courier and prices start at £7.00 +vat for a single, small, light weight package on a 1-2 day service. This lower carriage cost is ONLY for web-based orders. Standard costs of courier start at £6.99 +vat for a 'within 5 day' service, or £7.99 +vat for a 1-2 day service. This cost is for us to send out a single package but we can send up to 30kg in one package (our website will calculate the costs for you). We aim to despatch all goods the same day the order is received (cut off time 15:30) but this is not guaranteed. The 1-2 day service is sent on Parcelforce 24 hour service and should, under normal circumstances be received the next working day although we allow 2 days. The 'within 5 days' service is sent on Parcelforce 48 hour service and should, under normal circumstances be received within 2 to 5 working days depending on how busy we are. You will receive tracking information from us once your goods are sent through the ParcelForce network so long as we have your current email address. If you require a same day despatch to be guaranteed then please select the “priority despatch” option during checkout (there is an additional charge to prioritise your order).
Examples of Courier Rates to Mainland UK:
ParcelForce 1-2 day service costs: 1 package £7.99 +vat (small packet £7.00 +vat) and then an extra £5.00 +vat for every additional package sent.
ParcelForce 'within 5 days' service costs: 1 package £6.99 +vat and then an extra £5.00 +vat for every additional package sent.
ParcelForce Pre-10 costs: £12.50 +vat per package
ParcelForce Pre-12 costs: £10.50 +vat per package
ParcelForce Saturday Pre 1pm costs: 1 package £12.00 +vat and then an extra £6.00 +vat for every additional package sent.
Please note that due to the closure of our local Post Office, we can no longer send goods by Recorded Delivery or Special Delivery. We still offer a "Royal Mail: Tracked 1-2 day" service and goods will be sent by Special Delivery however goods sent this way will normally be posted the day following the date of the order as we no longer have access to a Post Office within a close distance of our offices.
For overseas orders we normally use FedEx and goods are normally despatched within 24 hours of the orders being received and full tracking information is sent as soon as the goods are collected from us.
In more detail:
Our shopping cart calculates the approximate weight of your order and depending on how heavy the total shopping basket is you are given a number of postal options. For light weight and low value goods you will have the option of having your order sent by Royal Mail First Class post or by courier. The option will only be available for goods up to a certain weight and value as this service is not insured or guaranteed.
We cannot offer any compensation for goods lost in the post and unfortunately if the goods do not arrive with you, and we can demonstrate they have been posted from us, we cannot resend free of charge. Please only select a postal service under these circumstances.
For larger and heavier orders the goods are despatched by Parcelforce on a courier service. A signature will be required when the goods are delivered. The total courier cost that you will incur will depend on the weight and number of packages that we send. We aim to pack the goods to minimise the number of parcels being sent as the costs are subject to a minimum value and then a cost per package once that minimum has been reached. Some parts of the UK incur a surcharge because of the distance to delivery. The current surcharge areas are shown in green on the image and typically include the Isle of Mann, Isles of Scilly, Scottish Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight. The surcharge affects the following postcodes: IV, HS, KA27-28, KW, PA20-49, PA60-78, PH17-26, PH30-44, PH49-50, ZE, BT, IM, TR21-25 and some PO postcodes (for the Isle of Wight). Our shopping cart will automatically work out the delivery price based on your postcode or region in the World.
We will always try to process your order the same day and the vast majority of our orders do go the same day that they are received subject to stock availability. If you require your order urgently and a same day despatch is essential to you then please tick the "priority despatch" box at the shopping cart and a surcharge will be added. If we are unable to despatch the same day you will be notified by email and the additional charge will not apply.
We can offer a Pre-10am, Pre-Noon and a Saturday morning delivery service but these are much more expensive. These options, and all the above as applicable, are shown at the checkout should you require them.
