Frequently Asked Questions

  • I am having trouble installing a Ricoh printer and I am using Windows 7

Some customers report problems installing their printer in the Windows 7 environment. In theory this should be a straight forward installation and the latest drivers for all the Ricoh printers are available from our webpage listing the Ricoh printers...

    http://www.printerowners.co.uk/sublimation/489/ricoh-sublimation-printers.htm

Once the Ricoh drivers have been installed you should check to see if you have 2 versions of the Ricoh printer installed. If so then click and delete one of them, or if unsure delete them all and install the printer again. With the latest Windows 7 drivers downloaded and installed, the Ricoh printer should auto detect and install when plugged in with the USB lead.

  • My Ricoh printer is telling me that I have to replace my waste ink collection unit. What does this mean?

The waste ink collection unit is a small component inside your printer that collects ink when head cleaning is performed or when purging is undertaken by your printer. This is a straightforward part to replace or you can have a look at the link below (copy and paste the link) for a way of over-ridding the problem...

This You Tube video from Conde Inc gives some advice on how to fool the printer into thinking the waste ink collection unit has been replaced:

  • I want to print full A4 with my A4 Ricoh. How do I do this?

This is a post from one of our customers with a way around this...

I've been striggling to get the Ricoh 3300N to print full A4 too, to allow me to print on A4 jigsaws. I can never get it quite right - always a tiny strip of white left on the edge of the jigsaw. It's almost as if the printer can see the edges of the paper even when you try to fool it by selecting a larger paper type.

I contacted Sawgrass yesterday and asked if there was a way around it. They advised that the printer can print "US Legal" paper which is wider and longer than A4 (it measures 8.5" x 14"). So, I cut up a piece of A3 paper to these dimensions and placed it in the paper tray (the tray needs to be extended to fit US Legal paper, but there are 2 plastic lugs on each side allowing you to do this). I opened my A4 template in PhotoShop, dragged the photo in and went to print. In the "Print" screen, I clicked "Page Setup" to open the PowerDriver screen - here I selected Paper Size "Legal". Back in PhotoShop I selected "Centre Image" and de-selected "Scale to fit media".

Hey Presto!!! Out popped a lovely page with an A4 image right in the centre!
